GERT SCHEERLINCK

Lives and works in Oosterzele, Belgium. His sculptures question the nature of art, an object, an idea and the relation to us; the spectators. His works are a combination of everyday objects. His works contain tactile interactions between surface and form. The objects itself have got a history, used to have a function, through the combination he makes the sculptures get a symbolic value. The artist reconstructs memories and events. He challenges the viewer to engage in the dialogue between matter and everyday life and invites them to think about the origins and the trajectory of these materials.
